Scrapping the Native Vegetation Act will open the door to rampant habitat decimation which constitutes Ecocide, defined, in part, as “the extensive damage to, destruction of, or loss of ecosystem(s) of a given territory.”
The crime of Ecocide has yet to be added to the International Criminal Court where currently, Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity, War Crimes and Crimes Of Aggression have a rightful place. When Ecocide is finally added to the ICC list then the court will have the power and authority to try the perpetrators (eg. politicians, mining, oil and coal companies) and if found guilty, prosecute them as criminals.
Habitat can’t speak up and defend itself so someone has to.

This is something we must all think of before we cast our votes tomorrow. Personality politics has no place in our political system. Parties must be judged on their policies and the only party that has consistently defended our wildlife, biosphere, land, water and sustainability is the Greens.
