Send Premier Baird a huge message
The rumblings from parliament are getting louder. In the next few days, Premier Mike Baird may make a terrible choice, a choice that will put our iconic Aussie animals at risk.
Will you chip in to save our Aussie icons?
We're hearing that Mr Baird is considering caving in to pressure to weaken the laws protecting koalas, pygmy possums and other endangered wildlife. This is bigger than parliamentary squabbles and the election cycle. Our state's wildlife is on the chopping block.
The decision Premier Baird is making is huge, so we've joined with WWF-Australia, the Wilderness Society and other like-minded organisations to send him a huge message.
Picture five giant billboards in western Sydney, right where we know politicians pay particular attention, on major roads they drive past every day. Our politicians literally won't be able to ignore it. Kate, will you chip in to defend our Aussie icons? These billboards will drive the message home to our politicians, but it's just one piece of the puzzle in the fight for our Aussie icons.
Behind the scenes, we're meeting with ministers to lobby on behalf of nature. More than 1,700 of you have signed the petition to save our Aussie icons, a message that we will deliver directly to Environment Minister Rob Stokes when we meet him during the campign. When the billboards launch next week, we’ll be working with local communities to maximise their impact.
